Frequently Asked Questions

When should I contact an accountant?

For assistance with your taxes, contact a tax preparer before the year ends. There are planning opportunities they can help you with as well as, once the busy season starts, there isn't as much time to get to know new clients and that is frustrating for both you and us.

As soon as you start to think about your business, an accountant can help you take the next steps. We can discuss your business's organization, tax purposes and operations, along with record keeping and compliance requirements.

What records should I keep for my small business?

Running your business like a business and not a hobby includes keeping books and records that reflect the financial transactions of your business. Choosing the right accounting software can help. Generally, it is not recommended to just keep a check book register like you might do for your personal finances. I can help you set up your records on a small business accounting software, like QuickBooks.

How can I know which accountant is right for me?

Does your accountant return your calls? Do you feel comfortable asking them a question? Do you feel heard? With the right accountant, the answers should be a resounding "Yes!"
